Journeying with Jesus

Every year during lent… many believers go through an inward inspection of how their spiritual life is going.  A sort of “moral inventory” in preparation for the celebration of Easter.  It’s a good thing.

We have been doing that in our current series from the book of Luke.  We have been on a journey with Jesus and his disciples as they travel through Samaria on the way to Jerusalem to celebrate Passover.  Along the way He has been inspecting His disciples for Spiritual fruit.  He has been pulling back their branches to see what they have to show in the way of compassion and devotion.  He has been challenging them and their attitudes about prayer and possessions.  Today He issues a warning about the consequences of stagnant growth.

If you’ve been a Christian for awhile… years, decades even… what would Christ find this morning if he pulled down your branches and looked past your leaves… would there be any fruit there?

A great way to look at our spiritual growth. Are we stagnant, do we need root work, watering? How does our fruit look? Are we producing any?
Dealing with difficult people can certainly be challenging, to say the least. These are the ones that usually need love the most. . Not easy giving and showing love to people that sometimes we may not even like.
Our growth will not happen overnight. It will hurt at times.
Through this crisis I’m going through I feel God working in me. I feel His Peace with me. The times I don’t, then I know I’m thinking and trying to figure things out on my own.
Grateful everyday to be alive. πŸ™πŸ˜‡
