Central Passage
Luke 16:14-31
Subject
Journeying with Jesus
Description

Everybody knew that if you were rich it was because you had the favor of God.  The Pharisees were wealthy.  God, therefore, must approve of them.  Jesus, on the other hand, by his own admission didn’t have a place to lay His head.  He and his disciples were living by gleaning from neighbor’s fields and accepting the hospitality of people along the way.  And this dirt poor rabbi was going to tell them about money?

It was a grand joke, until Jesus tells them one of the most stone cold sober stories He ever uttered.  The story of the rich man and Lazarus, if it doesn’t chill you to the bone, you are listening right.

Listened twice to your sermon. I usually listen three times. I miss things the first couple of times.
This sermon speaks to my heart every waking moment. I have a very heavy heart ache for the poor, the homeless, the less fortunate. They’ve recently closed down a huge homeless camp in Santa Rosa. My first thought was, “Where are they going to go?” Extremely heart breaking.
I’ve been to a few places out of the country for mission work. The last trip, I heard a voice telling me there’s much work to be done in your own neighborhood to help the poor. Since then I’ve stayed locally to help.
The poor do cry for help. It’s heart wrenching, especially being comfortable in my own life.
Excellent message Pastor. 🙏
Thank you.😇
